Piccolino 2015 Rosso Sangiovese
Notes of macerated cherry and strawberry on the nose are complemented by raspberry, spice, and leather. On the palate, juicy red fruit gives way to baking spices mid-palate, and a hint of baker’s chocolate on the finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Thin crust spicy sausage pizza.
VINEYARDS: This wine comes from Puglia, the “heel” of Italy – a region of high plateaus above the Adriatic sea. This ancient soil is clay lime stone; it holds nutrients for the vines as well as leaving room for their roots to grow deep, in search of water. Grapes for this wine come from 25 year old vines.
