Sophie's 2015 Palm Block Shiraz
This wine is deep red in color. A bright nose marked by raspberry, boysenberry, and a hint of spice evoke Barossa’s terroir. On the palate, notes of boysenberry, blackberry jam, nutmeg, and black pepper form a medium body with impressive concentration.
Moderate tannins on the finish maintain the wine’s balance.
STORY: IN 1851 , a group of women known as ‘Barrel Girls,’ oversaw some of the first plantings of the Seppeltsfield estate vineyards. Their leadership, vision, and hard work has helped develop the region to its current prestige. Winemaker Fiona Donald continues this legacy in her work on Sophie’s Palm Block wines.
VINEYARDS: Grapes for this wine come from Seppeltsfield Estate vineyards on the western side of the Barossa Valley, a slightly cooler part of a warm, continental region. Vines are an average of 10 – 15 years old, thriving in the red clay loam soil layered over limestone.
